Job summary

Sharp and Carter in Melbourne is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join its finance team, supporting core accounting and reporting activities to deliver accurate, timely financial information for business operations. The role reports to the CFO in a collaborative finance function, offering exposure to month-end processes, reconciliations, budgeting and financial performance reporting.

Degree qualified with CA/CPA status or study progress is preferred, with 3–5 years in a similar role and strong

Qualifications

Degree in Finance/Commerce/Business or related discipline.
CA/CPA qualified or currently studying towards the qualification.
3–5 years’ experience in an Assistant Accountant or similar role.
Strong Excel skills and experience with financial systems.
Well organized with the ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

Support month-end close processes, including journals, accruals and prepayments.
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity.
Assist with management reporting, variance analysis and financial commentary.
Support budgeting, forecasting and financial performance reporting.
Assist with AP, AR, fixed assets and bank reconciliations.
Provide accurate and timely financial data to the broader finance team.
