Job summary

Golden Plains Shire Council is seeking an Asset Management and GIS Officer to support the ongoing development and maintenance of the Council’s Asset Management System and Geographic Information System. The role is temporary full time based in Bannockburn, with hybrid work options.

You will collate, capture and digitise asset data, manage field data collection, and contribute to data quality and user guides.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification or demonstrated knowledge in geospatial science, civil engineering or surveying.
• Experience in Asset Management and GIS, or substantial relevant experience.
• Sound understanding of databases, data management and data analysis.
• Intermediate GIS data management skills and data quality focus.

Responsibilities

• Collate, capture, and digitise asset data into the Asset Management System and GIS.
• Project manage field data capture for assets and condition data.
• Improve data integrity through QA programs and documentation.
• Prepare data, procedures, and user guides for system use.

Bannockburn location– perfectly positioned with an easy drive from Geelong, Ballarat, and Melbourne (plus free onsite parking!)

Temporary full time role until March 2028

Genuine flexibility including hybrid work arrangements, flexible hours and monthly ADOs

Salary between $82,100-$94,800 (dependant on experience) + super

We have an opportunity for a passionate and motivated Asset Management and GIS Officer with well-developed problem-solving skills to temporarily join our team and support the ongoing development and maintenance of Council’s Asset Management System and Geographic Information System.

This role will provide you the opportunity to:

• Collate, capture, and digitise Council’s asset data into Council’s Asset Management System and Geographic Information System.


• Undertake and project manage the capture of assets and asset condition data in the field.


• Improve the integrity of information held within Council’s Asset Management System and Geographic Information System, by participating in quality assurance programs.


• Prepare data and system procedures and user guides.

Our ideal candidate will have:

• Tertiary qualifications relevant to the position (e.g. Spatial Sciences, Surveying, Engineering) or demonstrated knowledge, experience or skills in Geospatial Science, Civil Engineering, Surveying or relevant discipline. Some relevant experience in Asset Management and GIS, or a lesser formal qualification and substantial relevant experience.


• Sound understanding of data bases, data management and storage, and data analysis.


• Intermediate skills in Geographic Information Systems for data management.


• Self-motivated with excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational/administrative skills.
