ASC Pty Ltd is Australia’s submarine company, delivering maintenance and lifecycle extension programs to enhance asset value and reliability. The Asset Engineer role reports to the Asset Manager and works with engineering, maintenance, and operations teams to optimise asset performance and ensure safe, cost-effective operations across the business.

You will lead reliability initiatives, develop maintenance strategies, and contribute to long-term asset planning while navigating defence security

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in asset management, reliability engineering, maintenance strategy, or asset lifecycle in heavy industrial environments.
• Knowledge of asset management principles, reliability methodologies, and continuous improvement.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess asset performance and identify improvements.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to advise multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to influence outcomes and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Lead reliability and continuous improvement initiatives, including root cause investigations and asset performance analysis.
• Support asset integrity programs and long-term asset lifecycle planning to ensure safe, compliant, and sustainable operations.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate asset and maintenance-related risks while supporting engineering governance and change management activities.
• Monitor asset performance, maintenance effectiveness, and lifecycle costs to inform investment and replacement decisions.
• Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, operations, and project teams to deliver improved asset performance and operational outcomes.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Asset Manager, the Asset Engineer is responsible for enhancing asset reliability, performance, and lifecycle value through effective asset management and maintenance strategies.

Working closely with engineering, maintenance, operations, and project teams, you will drive reliability improvements, optimise maintenance programs, and support safe, compliant, and cost-effective asset operations across the business.

About you

• A degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in asset management, reliability engineering, maintenance strategy, or asset lifecycle management within defence, maritime, mining, utilities, energy, or other heavy industrial environments.
• Knowledge of asset management principles, reliability methodologies, and continuous improvement practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess asset performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and provide technical advice across multidisciplinary teams.
• The ability to influence outcomes, drive best-practice asset management approaches, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  

Security Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1).
  

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
