Job summary

TAFE NSW seeks an Assessor – Business Services to join the Strathfield campus. This temporary full‑time role focuses on independent assessments and grading, supporting students to complete tasks and identify further training needs.

You will work within a Business Services team, with a focus on delivering fair, competency-based outcomes while maintaining professional currency. The position runs February 2027 to 30 June 2028.

Qualifications

• Hold Diploma or Higher in a relevant area such as WHS, HRM or Training and Assessment.
• Three years post‑qualification experience in industry relevant to your qualifications (within the last five years).
• Evidence of holding qualifications to assess Vocational Education and Training (VET).
• Ability to assess students against competency-based tasks and provide feedback in an adult learning environment.
• Understanding of learning materials and ongoing professional currency.
• Proven ICT skills to support assessment tasks.

Responsibilities

• Carry out independent assessments and grading for students.
• Support students to complete tasks and identify areas for further training.

$103,956 salary package - includes base salary ($91,590), plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading

About the role

TAFE Assessors carry out independent assessments and grading for students, with a focus on supporting students to complete tasks, as well as identifying areas for further training. Assessors work within a team of industry professionals in an engaging environment.

Temporary full‑time opportunity for the period February 2027 until 30 June 2028, based at Strathfield Campus to join our Business Services team.

Note: This role does not teach or deliver training.

About You

• Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and hold at a Diploma (or Higher) specialising in a relevant area such as:
  • Workplace, Health and Safety
  • Human Resource Management
  • Training and Assessment
• Have a minimum of three years post‑qualification experience in industry relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
• Evidence of holding the appropriate qualifications to assess Vocational Education and Training. See the candidate support document (here) for details.
• Demonstrated ability to assess students against competency‑based skills tasks.
• Understanding of the content of learning materials and the processes used in the discipline, and a commitment to maintain professional currency.
• Commitment and ability to provide feedback in an adult learning environment and motivate and encourage students.
• Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.
