Job summary

TAFE NSW is seeking an Assessor at the Strathfield Campus for a temporary full-time role from February 2027 to 30 June 2028. You will assess students against competency-based tasks, provide constructive feedback, and contribute to student learning in a professional, adult-learning environment.

The position is based at Strathfield Campus within the Business Services team and requires a Diploma (or higher) in a relevant field, plus 3 years' industry experience within the last 5 years.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in a relevant area such as Workplace, Health and Safety, Human Resource Management or Training and Assessment.
• Minimum of three years post-qualification experience in industry relevant to your qualifications, gained within the last five years.
• Evidence of holding qualifications to assess Vocational Education and Training.

About the role

TAFE Assessors carry out independent assessments and grading for students, with a focus on supporting students to complete tasks, as well as identifying areas for further training. Assessors work within a team of industry professionals in an engaging environment.

Temporary full-time opportunity for the period February 2027 until 30 June 2028, based at Strathfield Campus to join our Business Services team.

Note: This role does not teach or deliver training.

About You

To be successful in the role, you will:

• Have appropriate subject knowledge, skills and hold at a Diploma (or Higher) specialising in a relevant area such as: Workplace, Health and Safety, Human Resource Management or Training and Assessment
• Have a minimum of three years post-qualification experience in industry relevant to your qualifications, gained no longer than five years previously.
• Evidence of holding the appropriate qualifications to assess Vocational Education and Training. See the candidate support document (here) for details.
• Demonstrated ability to assess students against competency-based skills tasks.
• Understanding of the content of learning materials and the processes used in the discipline, and a commitment to maintain professional currency.
• Commitment and ability to provide feedback in an adult learning environment and motivate and encourage students.
• Skills in the use of relevant information and communication technologies.
