Job summary

Orica Brisbane is seeking an Assembly Technician to support the production and preparation of GroundProbe products, ensuring high-quality assemblies completed accurately and efficiently. You will assemble products by hand from work orders, inspect finished goods, and prepare orders for freight, while maintaining safety and quality within a team-oriented environment.

This role offers hands-on work in a manufacturing setting with opportunities to grow technical capability through the assembly

Qualifications

• 1+ years’ experience in production or assembly.
• Hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical tools.
• Ability to read schematics, drawings, and work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Formal qualifications are beneficial but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and test radar systems and sub-assemblies per drawings and instructions.
• Identify and help resolve assembly and test issues using structured problem‑solving.
• Support new product introductions and evolving production processes.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations and Quality to resolve issues.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of build quality, safety and efficiency.
• Adapt to changing priorities and workflows in production.
• Maintain accurate production documentation and manage materials.
• Progress in the Assembly Technician skills matrix.

About the role

As an Assembly Technician, you will play a key role in the production and preparation of Orica Digital Solutions products, ensuring high-quality assemblies are completed accurately and efficiently. You will be responsible for assembling products and components by hand in accordance with work orders, assembly drawings, and established procedures. In addition to assembly work, you will inspect completed products, pack finished goods and prepare orders for freight to ensure they are safely, accurately, and securely dispatched to customers. This role requires strong attention to detail, a commitment to quality and safety, and the ability to work effectively within a team-oriented manufacturing environment.

What you will be doing

• Assemble and test GroundProbe radar systems, sub‑assemblies, and associated equipment in accordance with approved drawings, work instructions, and production requirements.


• Identify, investigate, and support resolution of assembly and test issues using structured problem‑solving and fault‑finding approaches.


• Support new product introductions, design changes, and evolving production processes, including early‑stage and non‑standard builds.


• Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Quality to resolve issues and implement corrective actions.


• Contribute practical input to continuous improvement of build quality, efficiency, safety, and repeatability.


• Adapt to changing priorities, instructions, and workflows in a dynamic production environment.


• Maintain accurate production documentation and support effective management of work‑in‑progress, tools, and materials.


• Develop technical capability through progression in the Assembly Technician skills matrix.

What you will bring

• 1+ years’ experience in production, assembly, or a similar hands‑on technical role.


• Practical experience using mechanical and/or electrical tools and equipment.


• Ability to read and work from drawings, schematics, and work instructions.


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.


• Formal qualifications are beneficial but not essential.
