Hands-on leadership role with a growing Australian manufacturing business

Lead the final assembly of large agricultural harvesting equipment

Stable Dalby-based role with a strong focus on quality, teamwork and delivery

About Midwest Fabrication

Midwest Fabrication is a 100% Australian family-owned business based in Dalby, Queensland. For more than 28 years, we have been at the forefront of harvester front development and manufacturing, supplying high-quality agricultural equipment to farmers across Australia.

As our business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Assembly Team Leader to lead the final assembly of our harvesting platforms at our Dalby manufacturing facility.

About the Role

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the day-to-day operation of our final assembly area.

You will work alongside the team to ensure Midwest fronts are assembled safely, correctly and on schedule, while maintaining a strong focus on quality and workmanship.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading the day-to-day activities of the final assembly team.

Coordinating work priorities in line with the Production Build Schedule.

Carrying out and overseeing mechanical assembly, fitting and equipment setup.

Ensuring components, hydraulic systems and mechanical systems are correctly installed and adjusted.

Completing final inspections and quality checks prior to equipment being released.

Identifying and resolving assembly or quality issues.

Working closely with Production, Planning, Warehouse, Procurement and Engineering to keep builds moving.

Monitoring parts availability and escalating shortages or production issues.

Maintaining a safe, clean and organised assembly area.

Training and supporting new team members in Midwest assembly methods and standards.

Helping identify practical improvements to assembly processes, workflow and quality.

About You

We are looking for someone who is practical, mechanically minded and comfortable leading a small team in a manufacturing environment.

Ideally, you will have:

Previous experience in mechanical assembly, manufacturing, hydraulics, agricultural machinery or similar.

Experience as a Team Leader, Leading Hand, Supervisor or senior tradesperson.

Strong mechanical aptitude and hands‑on assembly skills.

Experience with mechanical fitting, hydraulics, bearings, drive systems or machinery assembly.

Ability to read and interpret drawings and work instructions.

Strong attention to detail and pride in quality workmanship.

The ability to train and support less experienced team members.

Good communication, organisation and problem‑solving skills.

A strong commitment to workplace safety.

A reliable, accountable and team‑focused approach.

Agricultural machinery experience will be highly regarded, but candidates from heavy equipment, transport, automotive, fabrication and general manufacturing backgrounds are also encouraged to apply.

The Opportunity

This is a great opportunity for an experienced assembler, fitter or leading hand who is ready to take ownership of a small team and production area.

You will play an important role in ensuring our harvesting platforms leave the factory on time, assembled correctly and to the quality standard our customers expect.

If you enjoy hands‑on work, leading people and seeing a finished machine come together, we'd like to hear from you.
