Job summary

Flinders University in Bedford Park, SA, seeks an Artificial Intelligence Specialist to drive deployment of enterprise AI platforms and foster responsible AI adoption across students and staff.

You will work with stakeholders to identify use cases, design and implement AI solutions, and contribute to governance and guidance materials within IDS. A strong IT background and cross‑functional collaboration are essential.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with enterprise AI platforms such as Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Studio, or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively across teams.
  • Demonstrated experience or knowledge of responsible AI principles, AI governance frameworks, and ethical AI deployment.
  • The ideal candidate will also hold an appropriate tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a relevant technical area, and / or equivalent relevant experience in an IT environment.

Responsibilities

Full-Time | Continuing Higher Education Officer Level 7 | $102,589 - $113,561 Location: Bedford Park / Kaurna Country View

About the Role

Flinders currently operates Microsoft 365 Copilot and has a growing portfolio of AI agents built and deployed in Microsoft Copilot Studio. We are also preparing to roll out additional AI enterprise platforms to students and staff — one of the largest deployments in the South Australian university sector. This role sits at the centre of that work.

As the Artificial Intelligence Specialist, you will play a key role in delivering innovative AI solutions that enhance the digital experience across Flinders University. Working closely with stakeholders, this position helps identify opportunities for AI adoption, supports the implementation of AI initiatives, and collaborates across Information and Digital Services (IDS) to ensure solutions are sustainable, effective and aligned with University priorities.

Key responsibilities include:

About You

You are a collaborative and forward-thinking technology professional with an interest in applying AI solutions to solve complex challenges and improve user experiences. You bring strong analytical and relationship-building skills, enjoy working with diverse stakeholders, and are committed to continuous learning in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.

To be successful in this role, you will have Experience supporting AI adoption, change management, or end-user enablement at scale, along with:

Information and Digital Services (IDS) are a pivotal resource of the University, providing information and digital technology services and support to the Flinders University staff and student community. The IDS team apply technical expertise to support university projects and provide core services such as the IDS Service Desk, Audio visual, simulation and event services, Information security and identity access management services and more.
