Job summary

Strategic Partners Australia is seeking an AI Governance and Controls Engineer at EL1 level for a Federal Government client in Canberra. The role is 5 days onsite, requiring NV1-level security clearance.

You will lead AI governance, align controls with cyber security and privacy requirements, and develop standards for AI usage across the department. You will design, implement, and maintain AI-related controls within Microsoft 365 platforms, including Purview DSPM/DLP and Copilot governance,

Qualifications

• NV1 Security Clearance or higher is required.
• Experience in AI governance or AI security controls is preferred.
• Ability to design and implement security controls for AI-enabled systems.

Responsibilities

• Act as the AI Cyber Security Lead for governance frameworks.
• Develop and implement AI strategies to enhance cyber security capabilities.
• Design AI control frameworks aligned to security, privacy, risk, and compliance requirements.
• Develop security standards and procedures for AI technologies.
• Assess AI solutions against security, privacy, ethical, and legislative requirements.
• Establish accountability, transparency, monitoring, and assurance processes for AI.
• Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging AI threats and their implications for cyber security.
• Conduct AI risk assessments and identify mitigations.
• Evaluate AI use cases for secure deployment.
• Monitor threats like data leakage, prompt injection, and model manipulation.
• Support AI-related risk management within the broader cyber security framework.

AI Governance and Controls

• Act as the AI Cyber Security Lead in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of AI governance frameworks.
• Support the AI Accountable Authority through the development and implementation of AI strategies to enhance cyber security capabilities across the department
• Design and implement AI control frameworks aligned to cyber security, privacy, risk, and compliance requirements.
• Develop security standards, and procedures governing the use of AI technologies across the department.
• Assess AI solutions against security, privacy, ethical, and legislative requirements.
• Establish processes model for accountability, transparency, monitoring, and assurance as it relates to AI
• Conduct research and horizon scanning to identify emerging AI trends and their implications for cyber security.
• Conduct AI risk assessments and identify appropriate mitigations.
• Evaluate AI use cases and provide recommendations on secure and responsible deployment.
• Monitor emerging AI threats, such as data leakage, prompt injection, model manipulation, and unauthorised AI usage etc.
• Support the management of AI-related risks within the department's broader cyber security risk framework.

Microsoft AI and Data Protection Controls

Design, document, implement and maintain AI-related controls within Microsoft 365 and associated platforms. Configure and manage items such as:

• Microsoft Purview Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) for AI
• Microsoft Purview DLP
• Sensitivity Labels
• Information Protection
• Communication Compliance
• Copilot governance and data access controls
