- Acquiring, importing, and managing external Revit and CAD models from third parties to extract all necessary architectural and building services information for the structural drafting and design team.
- Analysing third-party models and drawings to gather detailed information, measurements, and annotations required by the internal engineering design team (e.g., column locations, floor finishes, wall thicknesses, material specifications).
- Coordinating the internal structural design and specifications back with external architects/building designers to ensure the structural scope is correctly integrated and project confluence is achieved.
- Reviewing and inspecting external architectural documentation and associated materials to identify potential conflicts, inconsistencies, or structural implications, ensuring alignment with relevant codes and standards for structural design input.
Internal Drafting Support and Quality Assurance:
- Collaborating with project leaders and internal stakeholders to define the required inputs and outputs for structural documentation based on the architectural data.
- Accurately entering and managing critical architectural data within the internal structural drafting and modelling platforms (CAD/BIM) to support the production of structural drawings.
- Providing progress updates to stakeholders and project managers on the status of model coordination and information transfer to support clear communication and project alignment.
- Contributing to continuous improvement by reviewing and recommending updates to internal drafting workflows, templates, and procedures for integrating external architectural models.
Technical Skills and Knowledge
Maintaining up-to-date, high-level proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD to effectively manipulate, clean, and extract data from third-party models.
Applying a strong working knowledge of building codes and planning regulations to both review external documents and inform internal structural design constraints.
