Job summary

Indetail is seeking an experienced Joinery Drafter in Melbourne to produce detailed shop drawings for manufacture and installation. You will work closely with project managers, architects, designers, and factory staff to translate architectural concepts into practical, buildable joinery solutions.

Qualifications

• A trade-qualified cabinet maker/shopfitter or qualified draftsperson with significant architectural drafting experience.
• Ideally 5+ years’ experience in joinery, cabinetry, shopfitting or architectural drafting.
• Demonstrated experience preparing detailed joinery shop drawings.
• Strong understanding of joinery construction methods, materials and hardware systems.
• Ability to read and interpret complex architectural drawings and specifications.
• Strong technical and problem-solving ability.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple drawing packages and deadlines.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across project, factory and site teams.
• A practical understanding of how joinery is manufactured and installed.

Responsibilities

• Interpret architectural drawings, specifications and site documentation.
• Prepare detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD and Revit.
• Develop plans, elevations, sections and detailed construction drawings.
• Coordinate drawings with architects, designers, builders, project managers and factory staff.
• Translate architectural intent into practical, buildable joinery solutions.
• Prepare detailed material, hardware and component information as required.
• Manage drawing revisions, transmittals, RFIs and project documentation.
• Review architectural and consultant documentation for discrepancies and clashes.
• Ensure drawings are accurate and suitable for manufacture and installation.
• Maintain document control and drawing revision accuracy throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical input during material selection, detailing and constructability reviews.

We are now seeking an experienced Joinery Drafter with strong AutoCAD and Revit capability to join our team.

The Role

This is a hands-on drafting role suited to someone with strong technical knowledge of joinery construction and experience producing detailed shop drawings for manufacture and installation.

You will work closely with our project managers, architects, designers, factory team and site personnel to develop accurate and practical documentation from architectural design through to production.
