Job summary

Regional Employment Services – Stratford QLD is seeking an architectural glass drafting professional to join our team. The primary focus is 2D/3D drafting for custom glass projects, working with management, production, sales and estimating to produce accurate drawings and manufacturing information.

You will prepare production-ready files for CNC and waterjet equipment, develop complex laminated glass designs, and adapt artwork for digital printing onto glass while ensuring compliance with AS

Qualifications

• Proven drafting experience in architecture or technical fields.
• Experience in glass, glazing, architectural, engineering or manufacturing industries preferred.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D; Revit or Inventor is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate 2D and 3D drawings for architectural and custom glass projects.
• Develop production-ready drawings for CNC and waterjet processing.
• Create designs for custom laminated glass, including complex shapes, patterns and specialist applications.
• Prepare and adapt architectural designs and artwork for digital ceramic printing onto glass.
• Interpret architectural plans, engineering specifications, customer drawings and site information.
• Work with our production team to ensure designs can be manufactured accurately and efficiently.
• Assist in developing new and innovative glass products and applications using our manufacturing capabilities.
• Optimise drawings and designs to minimise manufacturing errors, wastage and rework.
• Ensure glass designs comply with AS 1288 – Glass in Buildings, the NCC and other applicable Australian standards.

A leading glass processing and solutions provider servicing the architectural, commercial and residential markets throughout Queensland. Our manufacturing facility incorporates advanced glass-processing technology, including multiple CNC processing machines, waterjet cutting, custom glass laminating and digital ceramic glass printing. We are continuing to invest in advanced glass-processing technology, and we want the successful person to become an important part of developing what we can manufacture and offer to the architectural market.

About the role

The primary focus of this position is architectural and technical glass drafting, rather than aluminium window, door or shopfront design. You will work closely with our management, production, sales and estimating teams to develop accurate drawings and manufacturing information for custom glass projects. Projects may incorporate custom laminated glass, digitally printed glass, CNC-machined glass, waterjet-cut glass and other specialised architectural glass applications.

Key responsibilities but not limited to

• Prepare accurate 2D and 3D technical drawings for architectural and custom glass projects.
• Develop production-ready drawings and files for our CNC and waterjet processing equipment.
• Produce detailed designs for custom laminated glass, including complex shapes, patterns and specialist applications.
• Prepare and adapt architectural designs and artwork for digital ceramic printing onto glass.
• Interpret architectural plans, engineering specifications, customer drawings and site information.
• Work with our production team to ensure designs can be manufactured accurately and efficiently.
• Assist in developing new and innovative glass products and applications using our manufacturing capabilities.
• Optimise drawings and designs to minimise manufacturing errors, wastage and rework.
• Ensure glass designs comply with AS 1288 – Glass in Buildings, the National Construction Code (NCC) and other applicable Australian Standards and regulatory requirements.
• Liaise with customers, architects, builders, engineers and our internal team where clarification of design requirements is necessary.

About you

• Proven architectural or technical drafting experience.
• Experience within the glass, glazing, architectural, engineering or manufacturing industries would be highly regarded.
• Strong proficiency in AutoCAD 2D/3D or similar professional drafting/design software.
• Revit, Inventor or other 3D design experience would be advantageous.
• An understanding of glass processing and manufacturing would be highly regarded, although training on our specialised equipment and capabilities can be provided.
• Strong understanding of Australian building standards, particularly AS 1288, or the ability to develop this knowledge.
• Excellent attention to detail and a strong focus on producing accurate, manufacture-ready drawings.
• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, production personnel, management and other professionals.
• A forward-thinking attitude and genuine interest in new technology, architectural glass and advanced manufacturing.
• Relevant drafting, architectural, engineering or building-design qualifications are preferred.
