Job summary

icare NSW is seeking a Platform Architect - Security to shape the cyber security architecture that supports NSW’s data and services. You’ll translate strategy into practical controls across identity, access, data protection and vulnerability management.

You’ll work with architects, delivery teams and external providers to drive secure-by-design outcomes and to explore AI and automation for enhanced threat detection and safer operations.

Qualifications

• Strong cyber security or technology architecture experience in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience designing security architectures across identity and access, data protection and vulnerability management.
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.

• Shape icare NSW's cyber security architecture, future-state vision and roadmap.
• Design security solutions across identity and access management, privileged access, authentication, vulnerability management and data protection.
• Strengthen data loss prevention and security controls during technology transformation.
• Explore AI, automation and emerging security technologies to improve threat detection and monitoring.
• Embed secure-by-design principles and controls into technology solutions from the outset.
• Collaborate with architects, cyber specialists, delivery teams and stakeholders to solve security challenges.
• Research and evaluate security technologies to guide future investments and capability decisions.
• Represent cyber security in architecture discussions and governance, balancing security with user needs.

About the role

The systems and services you improve support important interactions for customers, providers, employers and employees across NSW.

As Platform Architect - Security, you’ll help shape the cyber security architecture that keeps icare’s data, systems and services secure as our technology environment evolves. You’ll turn security strategy into practical solutions, designing controls and architecture across areas including identity and access, privileged access, vulnerability management and data protection.

This is an opportunity to influence a developing security architecture capability, solve complex problems and explore how emerging technologies, including AI and automation, can strengthen security while making it easier for people to work securely.

What you'll be working on

• Shape icare’s cyber security architecture, future-state vision and roadmap, translating strategy into practical solutions and priorities.
• Design security solutions across identity and access management, privileged access, authentication, vulnerability management and data protection.
• Help strengthen data loss prevention and security controls as icare progresses its broader technology and business transformation.
• Explore how AI, automation and emerging security technologies can improve threat detection, vulnerability management, monitoring and security operations.
• Embed secure-by-design principles, security standards and appropriate controls into technology solutions from the outset.
• Partner with architects, cyber specialists, delivery teams, business stakeholders and external providers to solve complex security challenges and influence design decisions.
• Research and evaluate security technologies, patterns and emerging risks to guide future investment and capability decisions.
• Represent cyber security in architecture discussions and governance, providing clear advice that balances security, user needs, risk and organisational priorities.
  

What you'll bring

• Strong cyber security or technology architecture experience in complex enterprise environments.
• Experience designing solutions across areas such as identity and access, privileged access, data protection and vulnerability management.
• Experience developing security architectures, roadmaps and solution designs that turn strategy into practical outcomes.
• Strong knowledge of cyber security principles, controls and secure-by-design approaches.
• Confidence working across technical and business teams to explain complex issues, influence decisions and build support for solutions.
• Curiosity about emerging technology, including how AI and automation can strengthen cyber security.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field, and/or comparable industry experience.
