Qualifications

  • Possess current MR Class Drivers Licence.
  • Hold General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) ticket.
  • Have Certificate 3 in Arboriculture or equivalent.
  • Be able to acquire AC/DC certificate within probation.
  • Achieve Level 1 Chainsaw certification.
  • Have Chainsaw Fall Trees Manually accreditation.
  • Possess Maintain Chainsaw & Trim and cut felled Trees accreditation.
  • Completed functional capacity evaluation prior to employment.

As a Team Leader in our Parks and branch, you’ll play a pivotal role in guiding a skilled team to deliver high-quality horticultural services across our community spaces. You’ll be responsible for leading daily operations, making informed decisions, and fostering a collaborative and productive team environment. This includes mentoring staff, ensuring compliance with Council policies, and promoting multi-skilling and professional development.

Your technical expertise will be essential in performing and overseeing specialised horticultural tasks such as tree maintenance, pest management, and landscape care. You’ll also ensure safe and efficient use of equipment and uphold high standards of customer service by resolving issues and supporting your team in delivering positive outcomes for internal and external clients.

This role requires a hands-on leader with strong communication skills, a commitment to safety and quality, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in both team performance and service delivery.

Skills & Qualifications
  • Possession of a current “MR” Class Drivers Licence (Medium Rigid)
  • Possession of a current General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) ticket
  • Possession of Certificate 3 in Arboriculture or equivalent tertiary qualification
  • Possession of an Agricultural Chemical Distribution Certificate (AC/DC) certificate or equivalent, or the ability to acquire within the probation period self-funded.
  • Level 1 Operate and Maintain Chainsaw certification from a recognized training provider.
  • Possession of a Chainsaw Fall Trees Manually (Intermediate) accreditation.
  • Possession of a Maintain Chainsaw & Trim and cut felled Small Trees (Level I) accreditation
  • The incumbent will be required to undertake a functional capacity evaluation prior to commencement of employment.
  • This position has been identified as having a ‘Significant Risk’ of exposure to a disease preventable by vaccination. Therefore, it is a compulsory requirement of the position that the incumbent have the following vaccinations (which may vary in the future) in accordance with the terms of The Australian Immunisation Handbook and Council's Worker Vaccination Management Directive. Vaccines for this position currently include: Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus and Q fever.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating a wide range of Arboricultural activities relating to the maintenance and improvement of parks, road landscapes and other recreational areas.
  • Demonstrated relevant experience in delivery of ground-based tree maintenance or removal activities.
  • Extensive experience and demonstrated ability to safely and competently operate plant and equipment associated with the position
  • The incumbent may be required to be available for after-hours emergent issues as needed.
