APS6 Senior Rehabilitation & Early Intervention Officer

The Role
An exciting opportunity is available for an APS6 Senior Rehabilitation & Early Intervention officer to join a busy, small Government agency supporting First Nations communities.

This role will see you leading proactive rehabilitation, early intervention, workers’ compensation and psychosocial risk initiatives across a geographically distributed workforce.

The position is based in Canberra, with other locations potentially considered, and offers a high degree of autonomy under limited direction.

Some of your duties

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of proactive workers’ compensation and early intervention programs.
• Identify, assess and develop mitigation strategies for psychosocial risks across a national workforce.
• Develop and deliver education for managers and team leaders on burnout, mental health, stress and workplace wellbeing.
• Design, implement and evaluate proactive wellbeing and rehabilitation initiatives.
• Mediate and negotiate short-term light duties and informal reasonable adjustments between employees, managers and medical professionals

To be considered for this opportunity, you will bring:

• A minimum of three years' experience in Workplace Health, Rehabilitation or case management, with experience across workers’ compensation, early intervention, psychosocial risk management and/or organisational wellbeing.
• Demonstrated expertise in rehabilitation, early intervention or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of WHS and rehabilitation legislation and best practice.
• Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 1988 (SRC Act) and relevant Commonwealth WHS frameworks.

Applicants with Government experience will be considered favorably, however applicants from the private sector are encouraged to apply and will be considered.

You’ll also need to have:

• The ability to work autonomously under general guidance and exercise sound judgement in complex and sensitive situations.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to distil complex issues into clear, practical advice.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail.
• The ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with First Nations people and people from diverse backgrounds.
