APS6 Senior Communications and Campaigns Officer

HorizonOne is supporting a large federal government department, which develops and implements policies and programs while providing expert advice to the Australian Government on health, aged care, disability, and related services. The department engages with a diverse range of stakeholders to improve outcomes and support the wellbeing of all Australians. Its branch plays a key role in achieving these outcomes by delivering strategic communication and engagement services, ensuring stakeholders remain central to planning and decision-making.

The Opportunity

In this diverse role, you will take part in communicating key public health messages, which will see you take part in the strategic planning and end-to-end development and delivery of a large-scale national campaign. You will create engaging, impactful content for national campaigns, collaborate with key collaborators, and build strong relationships with stakeholders to maximise the campaign’s reach and impact.

The Role
  • Create clear and engaging content for a large national campaign.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and collaboration
  • Engage with partners and stakeholders to support community outreach, professional training, and education events
  • Deliver program messages to stakeholders and participants effectively
  • Manage media activities for the campaign
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate communication and engagement strategies, ensuring continuous improvement
  • Conduct research and produce high-quality written materials as required
The Ideal Person

You will have tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, media and/or more experience working at the APS6 level within state or federal government in a media, campaigns and/or strategic communications role.

You will also have the following skills/capabilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage complex tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Strategic thinking and analytical abilities to shape work to achieve organisational objectives and deliver high-quality outcomes
  • A collaborative and adaptable approach, maintaining professionalism under pressure and embracing continuous improvement
Salary / Rate
  • 12-months non-ongoing contract
  • $95k - $110k + 15.4% Super
  • Flexibility to work from home up to two days per week
  • Location: Canberra
