Job summary

Capital Recruit is seeking an experienced APS6 communications professional to join a government agency in Canberra. The role focuses on delivering digital communications and translating complex scientific information into accessible content for diverse audiences.

You will work with the Digital Communications Manager and Outreach team to support websites, social media, e-newsletters and public publications, campaigns, media engagement and stakeholder events over a six-month contract.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced APS6 to join a government agency working at the intersection of international development, research and public policy.

This six-month contract will see you supporting the delivery of digital communications and outreach activities, helping translate complex scientific and research information into engaging content for diverse audiences.

Working closely with the Digital Communications Manager and wider Outreach team you will contribute to the agency's digital presence across websites, social media, e-newsletters and publications, while supporting communication campaigns, media engagement and stakeholder events.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate

• Digital communications experience: Proven experience developing, editing and producing engaging content across multiple digital platforms, including the ability to communicate scientific or complex information to diverse audiences.


• Content production: Experience coordinating content development and working collaboratively with communications professionals and subject matter experts.


• Research and analytical skills: The ability to research, interpret and evaluate information from multiple sources and translate complex subject matter into clear, engaging content.


• Stakeholder engagement: Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to provide communications advice and work effectively in a busy, complex environment.

Highly desirable:

• Tertiary qualifications in communications, marketing, digital media or a related discipline.


• An understanding of international development and/or international research.


• Experience working in government communications.
