Qualifications

• Experience as a Business Analyst, Junior BA or similar in a complex delivery environment.
• Experience gathering and documenting business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and process maps.
• Experience facilitating workshops with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, sprint ceremonies and backlog management.
• Strong documentation skills including business cases, briefing papers and governance submissions.
• Excellent organisational skills and stakeholder engagement ability.
• Desirable exposure to data science, AI or technology-driven projects.

Our client is a Federal Government agency seeking an APS5 Associate Business Analyst to support the delivery of innovative data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence initiatives. This role combines business analysis, stakeholder engagement and project delivery support, helping translate business needs into practical solutions while supporting governance and delivery activities.

• Richmond or Geelong location, hybrid flexibility, minimum 3 days per week in office

The role

Working within a multidisciplinary AI and Data Science team, the Associate Business Analyst will support the discovery, planning and delivery of technology initiatives, from early-stage concepts through to pilots and implementation. The role involves gathering and documenting business requirements, facilitating workshops, supporting Agile delivery activities and preparing governance documentation. You will also provide coordination and administrative support to senior delivery stakeholders, helping ensure projects progress effectively.

About you

• Previous experience in a Business Analyst, Junior BA, or similar role within a complex delivery environment
• Demonstrated experience gathering and documenting business requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and process maps
• Experience facilitating workshops and engaging with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
• Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies, sprint ceremonies and backlog management
• Strong documentation skills, including preparing business cases, briefing papers, governance submissions or impact assessments
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, track actions and support project delivery activities
• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with excellent attention to detail
• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business, IT, Project Management or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience
• Exposure to data science, AI, machine learning or technology‑driven projects will be highly regarded
