The Regional Engagement Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering stakeholder engagement activities that strengthen relationships between Defence, Reservists, employers, industry and community partners across NSW and the ACT. Working as part of a nationally dispersed team, you will build and maintain productive relationships, coordinate engagement activities and represent Defence at a range of events, networking opportunities and employer engagement programs.
The role requires strong communication, organisational and relationship management skills, along with the ability to operate autonomously while contributing to broader national objectives. The position involves regular travel and coordination of activities designed to enhance awareness of Defence capability and the contribution of the ADF Reserves.
Skills and experience that will help you succeed:
ADF Reserves and Employer Support (ADFRES) enhances Defence capability by fostering strong relationships between Defence, Reservists, employers, industry and the wider community. The Regional Engagement team delivers stakeholder engagement programs, employer immersion activities, networking events and Defence awareness initiatives that support recruitment, retention and the effective utilisation of Reservists.
Working across Australia, the team connects Defence with key external stakeholders, identifies opportunities to strengthen support for Reservists and promotes understanding of Defence capability and priorities. Through these activities, the team contributes directly to Defence preparedness, capability and community engagement outcomes.
We are seeking a highly motivated and professional engagement practitioner who enjoys building meaningful relationships and representing Defence in a diverse stakeholder environment. You will have well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, experience managing stakeholder relationships, and the ability to coordinate multiple activities and events simultaneously. You will demonstrate sound judgement, initiative and resilience, and be comfortable working independently across a geographically dispersed area.
The successful candidate will be willing to travel regularly throughout NSW and the ACT, including to Defence establishments and training areas, and hold a current C Class driver's licence with the ability to operate a 12-seat vehicle in support of stakeholder engagement activities.
