Job summary

Newcastle Toyota is seeking enthusiastic juniors to join as Junior Apprentice Technicians at our Hamilton branch. These full-time roles offer a pathway to a recognised qualification while working with experienced technicians in a modern workshop.

You will gain hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance, servicing and accessory installation, guided by mentors. The program features structured training, safety emphasis and opportunities for advancement within Newcastle Toyota.

Qualifications

  • Year 10 or equivalent qualification (or currently completing Year 12).
  • Genuine passion for vehicles and the automotive industry.
  • Strong practical skills and manual dexterity.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to work safely and responsibly with tools and equipment.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude towards learning.
  • Current driver's licence or ability to obtain one.
  • Willingness to undertake formal apprenticeship training through a registered training organisation.
  • Physical fitness for manual labour in varying workshop conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting experienced mechanics with vehicle maintenance, servicing and repairs under supervision.
  • Learning to fit and install vehicle accessories including audio systems and other aftermarket components.
  • Carrying out routine tasks such as tyre changes, fluid top-ups, filter replacements and battery servicing.
  • Using diagnostic equipment to identify and troubleshoot vehicle issues.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and organised workshop environment.
  • Keeping detailed records of work and time spent on tasks.
  • Supporting the service team to ensure efficient workflow and customer service.
  • Attending formal training sessions and completing theoretical apprenticeship components.

Due to growth in our business, Newcastle Toyota are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated apprentices to join our team as Junior Apprentice Technicians. These are full-time positions based in our Hamilton branch, offering an excellent opportunity to launch your career in the automotive trades. In this role, you will work alongside experienced technicians, learning practical skills in vehicle maintenance, repair, and accessory installation whilst earning a recognised qualification. What you'll be doing
