Job summary

AKD Softwoods is offering an Apprenticeship Saw Technician position at Oberon site. You will train in Certificate III in Saw Technology while working on state-of-the-art equipment, gaining hands-on experience across our sawmill operations and associated processes.

The program spans three years, with dedicated Training Manager support, travel to other sites where required, and opportunities to advance within Australia’s leading sawmill network.

Qualifications

• Apprenticeship pathway with hands-on saw technology training.
• Certificate III in Saw Technology required.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol and functional capacity testing may be required.

Responsibilities

• Sharpening, setting and maintaining chipper knives and saws.
• Removing and replacing saw blades.
• Straightening and stretching steel saw blades.
• Aligning machine centres for optimum performance.
• Operating manual and computer-controlled tools and equipment.
• Problem solving and fixing faults to maintain production.
• Optimise saw and timber recovery across processes.
