Job summary

Banana Shire Council in Central Queensland invites applications for an apprenticeship supporting the reticulation team while you work toward a Plumber and Drainer qualification. You will gain hands-on plumbing experience and learn on site under supervision, with structured training to build practical trade skills.

The role includes assisting with water and sewer assets, pool maintenance, and maintenance of treatment plants, plus completing job cards and documentation.

Qualifications

• Willingness and ability to obtain Certificate III in Plumbing.
• Pass in year 10 English and Maths.
• Hold and maintain a current class C manual driver’s licence.
• Construction Induction White Card.

Responsibilities

• Support reticulation team while undertaking learning and training to achieve the Plumber and Drainer qualification.
• Undertake plumbing and labouring duties as appropriate with skills and training.
• Assist with diagnosis and repair of plumbing and pipeline problems.
• Assist with construction and installation of water and sewer assets to approved standards.
• Assist with municipal swimming pool maintenance as required.
• Assist with the maintenance of Water and Sewerage Treatment Plants.
• Complete job cards and other paperwork as required.
• Participate in training, both at TAFE and on the job.
• Maintain an appropriate record of training in line with apprenticeship requirements.
• Undertake routine administrative tasks as required by the position.
• Assist senior staff to continuously improve work processes and develop new practices.
• Participate in training, exercises and response to disaster management and recovery as required.
• Undertake other relevant duties as directed, consistent with skills, competence and training.
