Job summary

RUSSELL MINERAL EQUIPMENT (RME) invites applications for an Apprentice Maintenance Fitter to join our Assembly team on a permanent full-time basis in Queensland. This apprenticeship will develop the skills to become a qualified Mechanical Fitter and future Assembly Technician while working alongside experienced tradespeople to assemble RME equipment.

• Assist in assembly of machinery under supervision.
• Perform mechanical fitting tasks including bolting, tapping and drilling.
• Support commissioning, testing and fault-finding of hydraulic equipment.
• Contribute to plant maintenance and pre-start inspections.
• Adhere to workshop safety and housekeeping practices.

What is the role?

There is an exciting opportunity for an Apprentice Maintenance Fitter to join our Assembly team on a permanent full-time basis.

This apprenticeship offers the opportunity to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a qualified Mechanical Fitter and future Assembly Technician. Working alongside experienced tradespeople, you will assist in the assembly of RME manufactured equipment while completing a nationally recognised trade qualification.

You will gain hands on experience in:

• Assembly of machinery under supervision
• Mechanical fitting activities including bolting, tapping and drilling
• Commissioning, testing and fault-finding of hydraulic equipment
• Plant maintenance and pre-start inspections
• Workshop safety and housekeeping practices
• Continuous improvement and teamwork initiatives

The successful applicant will have a genuine interest in mechanical equipment and enjoy working on high-quality, high-performance machines incorporating mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and electronic systems.

REQUIRED

• Year 12 Certificate
• Excellent attention to detail
• High-level organisation and time management skills

DESIRABLE

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment

LICENCES

• Current QLD ‘C’ Class Driver's Licence or ability to obtain
• Current MR Class Driver's Licence, or ability to obtain
• Current Forklift Licence, or ability to obtain
• Overhead Gantry Crane Licence, or the ability to obtain
