Job summary

Townsville Hospital and Health Service in Townsville, QLD, is offering an Apprenticeship for an Engineering Tradesperson (Electrical). This temporary full-time role provides hands-on experience assisting Electrical Tradespersons and gaining formal TAFE training.

The position is within the Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services department and operates on a Monday to Friday, 9-day fortnight roster as part of THHS's expansion program.

Qualifications

• Must hold a current National Police Certificate.
• Role involves Vaccine Preventable Diseases; Hepatitis B, MMR, Varicella and TB.
• Must hold a Class C vehicle license with endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Assist Electrical Tradespersons in day-to-day activities.
• Support asset maintenance and minor works within BEMS.
• Work in an identified Aged Care Facility with safety requirements.

To qualify as an Engineering Tradesperson (Electrical) after gaining a thorough working knowledge of the electrical trade through work experience as well as formal TAFE studies in Engineering Tradesperson (Electrical) course.

The position provides assistance to Electrical Tradespersons in the performance of their day-to-day activities.

PLEASE NOTE - This is a temporary full-time role, up to four (4) years.

The Building, Engineering and Maintenance Services (BEMS) Department is responsible to support the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (HHS) facilitation of safe, effective, and sustainable healthcare services through the best practice delivery of:

• Asset and critical infrastructure management functions and capability
• Asset maintenance functions and capability
• Minor works/project development and delivery

Role requirements

• Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening: Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate. Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate.
• This is a Vaccine Preventable Disease (VPD) risk role. Hepatitis B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Tuberculosis.
• Highly Desirable.
• Possession of a class C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this vehicle.
