Job summary

Morning Woodworks is seeking a passionate Apprentice Carpenter to join our team in Ipswich, QLD. This full-time position offers an opportunity to launch your career in the building trades, working alongside experienced craftspeople and developing practical skills and theoretical knowledge in carpentry.

This apprenticeship provides on-the-job training, mentorship, and progression opportunities while emphasising safety and hands-on learning in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Qualifications

  • Desire to pursue a carpentry career in building trades.
  • Completion of or working towards Year 10 or equivalent.
  • Ability to work safely in construction environments.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting experienced carpenters with measuring, cutting and shaping timber and other materials.
  • Constructing, installing and fitting timber frames, flooring, doors and windows.
  • Learning safe work practices and site safety protocols with hand and power tools.
  • Preparing work areas and materials and maintaining tools and equipment.

Job description

Morning Woodworks is seeking a passionate and dedicated Apprentice Carpenter to join our team in Ipswich, QLD. This is a full-time position that offers an exceptional opportunity to launch your career in the building trades. As an Apprentice Carpenter, you will work alongside experienced craftspeople, developing practical skills and theoretical knowledge in carpentry whilst contributing to the delivery of quality woodworking and carpentry projects. This role is pivotal in building your foundation as a skilled tradesperson and becoming an integral part of our growing business.

Key responsibilities
  • Assisting experienced carpenters with measuring, cutting and shaping timber and other materials to precise specifications
  • Helping to construct, install and fit timber frames, flooring, doors, windows and other carpentry components
  • Learning and applying safe work practices and site safety protocols, including the correct use of hand tools and power tools
  • Preparing work areas and materials, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored
  • Attending on-the-job training and completing formal carpentry coursework as part of your apprenticeship qualification
  • Supporting team members with project tasks and demonstrating a willingness to learn new techniques and processes
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship and attention to detail on all assigned tasks
What we're looking for
  • A strong desire to pursue a career in carpentry and the building trades, with genuine enthusiasm for hands-on work
  • Completion of or working towards a Year 10 qualification (or equivalent)
  • Physical fitness and the ability to work in varied weather conditions and environments on construction sites
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to follow instructions from senior tradespeople
  • A commitment to health and safety practices and a proactive approach to workplace safety
  • Reliability, punctuality and a strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and take on challenges
  • Ability to work as part of a team whilst also demonstrating self-motivation and initiative
  • Basic numeracy skills and spatial awareness
  • Current or ability to obtain a White Card (Construction Induction Card) as required by site regulations
