Job summary

Alignerr Corp. seeks an Applied Physics Specialist (AI Training) to push the boundaries of how physics is interpreted by AI. You will design open-ended physics problems, author rigorous gold-standard solutions, and audit AI outputs for consistency across thermodynamics, quantum boundaries, and conservation laws.

The role is an hourly remote contract, offering flexible hours (10–40 per week) for researchers and domain experts who want high-impact work on their own terms.

Qualifications

• PhD completed or near completion in Applied Physics or closely related field.
• Deep mastery of classical and quantum physics with clear analytical ability.
• Excellent written and verbal English; ability to explain complex derivations.
• Experience designing problems and grounding AI outputs in physical laws.

About The Role

What if your deep expertise in physics could directly shape how AI understands the physical world — ensuring it never violates the laws of thermodynamics, mishandles a quantum boundary condition, or hallucinates a conservation law? We're looking for PhD-level Applied Physicists to challenge cutting-edge Large Language Models on their grasp of physical reality. Your job is to find where AI reasoning breaks down — and help fix it. You'll design problems that push models to their limits, author rigorous ground-truth solutions, and audit AI outputs for physical consistency. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for researchers and domain experts who want high-impact work on their own terms.

What You'll Do

• Design Advanced Problems — Craft complex, open-ended physics problems at PhD qualifying exam level, requiring multi-step logical reasoning and rigorous mathematical derivation
• Author Ground-Truth Solutions — Develop precise, step-by-step "golden responses" with flawless physical constants, unit conversions, and logical flow
• Audit AI Reasoning — Evaluate AI-generated proofs and simulations for physical consistency, identifying where models hallucinate or violate first principles
• Refine Model Behaviour — Provide structured, expert feedback that improves AI reasoning around conservation laws, boundary conditions, and physics-informed constraints
• Work Across Core Domains — Engage with topics spanning quantum mechanics, electrodynamics, thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, and classical mechanics

Who You Are

• PhD completed or near-completion in Applied Physics, Physics, Engineering Physics, or a closely related field
• Deep mastery across the core pillars of physics: Classical Mechanics, Electrodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, and Quantum Mechanics
• Exceptional analytical writing skills — you can explain complex derivations clearly and precisely in English
• Uncompromising attention to detail: units, scientific notation, and logical proof structure are second nature to you
• Self-motivated and comfortable working independently on an asynchronous schedule
• No prior AI experience required

Nice to Have

• Experience with data annotation, scientific dataset evaluation, or quality assurance workflows
• Proficiency with computational tools such as Python (NumPy/SciPy), MATLAB, or COMSOL
• Background in academic research, technical writing, or physics education
