Job summary

Silicon Quantum Computing Pty Ltd, based in Sydney, is hiring an AI Engineer in Applied AI to embed with host teams on a rotation basis. You will map problems, define data and ontology, and own the automation across engineering, manufacturing and corporate teams.

Qualifications

• 4+ years building and running production software, with responsibility after release and a track record of shipping.
• Experience building, optimising and evaluating production agents or LLM-backed systems beyond prototypes.
• Strong Python, Go, Rust or C++ proficiency.
• Agent-first practice: coding agents as a default approach.
• Ability to design and work with tool harnesses such as MCP and proxies; manage inference budgets.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver agentic capabilities within host teams’ domains.
• Model domain ontology, data, and state to match bench reality.
• Identify quick wins and fundamental shifts; deliver through rotations.
• Build, optimise and evaluate production agents.
• Decide what the model does versus code and ensure reliability.
• Design for backpressure, retries and idempotency across instruments and endpoints.
• Document and handover code, runbooks, tests to the host team.
