Kmart Group is seeking a Design Assistant, Apparel to join the Apparel Design team on a 12-month fixed term contract in Australia. You will gain hands-on experience across end-to-end design, from trend research to technical drawings and production.

You’ll work with Designers to translate trends and insights into exciting ranges, learning from experienced designers, and contributing to multi-stakeholder collaborations in a fast-paced retail environment.

Formación

• Qualification in Fashion Design, Textile Design, Graphic Design or related discipline.
• Strong skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
• Experience with CAD and technical specification drawings.
• Understanding of garment construction and apparel product development.
• Ability to create tech packs and technical drawings.
• Strong eye for colour, trend and design.

Responsabilidades

• Support Designers with day-to-day development of apparel ranges.
• Create and update technical sketches, style briefs and tech packs.
• Set up, maintain and update range boards and option plans.
• Assist with sample fittings and attend fit sessions.
• Support selection of fabrics, trims, colours and accessories.
• Liaise with suppliers on samples and development requirements.
• Assist with lab dips, print and fabric approvals within production timelines.
• Contribute to trend, colour and market research and create boards.
• Collate research into clear presentations.
• Help maintain milestones across the critical path and approvals.
• Collaborate across Design, Buying, Technical and other stakeholders.
• Provide general administrative and design support.
