Wellways is seeking an AOD Wellbeing Navigator Peer in the Greater Shepparton region. You will draw on your lived experience of substance use to build respectful relationships, provide peer support, and help participants access services that matter to them.
You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, delivering one-on-one support, group sessions, and care planning. The role emphasizes recovery, hope, and community connections, with a values-based, inclusive workplace.
Wellways is committed to reconciliation, lived experience and inclusivity. We strongly encourage and warmly welcome people from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, people with a lived experience of mental health and disability and people who identify as LGBTIQA+ to apply. Even if you only meet some of the criteria, we’d love to hear from you.
Wellways, in partnership with APMHA Healthcare and GV Health, is working together across Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, and Moira to strengthen mental health and wellbeing support across the region. Together, we’re aiming to offer services that meet the unique needs of individuals in our community, whenever and wherever they are needed. Lived experience, inclusivity, and genuine collaboration are at the heart of everything we do.
As an AOD Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you’ll draw on your own lived experience of substance use or addiction, recovery, service use and personal growth to build mutual and respectful relationships with participants. You’ll provide intentional AOD peer support and help people connect with the services, supports and community connections that matter to them. You’ll use your lived experience thoughtfully and purposefully to create opportunities for shared learning, hope and recovery, while supporting people to recognise their own strengths, choices and possibilities.
You have personal lived experience with alcohol or substance use, and you’ve navigated your own recovery journey and/or engagement with AOD services. Through this experience, along with formal study or training, you’ve gained valuable insight that allows you to support others with empathy and understanding.
You share your story in a safe, respectful, and empowering way; helping others to feel seen, heard, and understood. You instil hope and support people in building connections and reinforce the strengths they already bring to their own recovery journey.
If your lived experience is at the heart of how you connect with and support others in our community, we’d love to get to know you!

Most importantly, Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are safe spaces for everyone.
We’d love to get to know you!
