Wellways Australia Limited, in partnership with APMHA Healthcare and GV Health, seeks an AOD Wellbeing Navigator Peer to provide strengths-based peer support within Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie and Moira. You will draw on personal lived experience to build trust, connect participants with services, and promote recovery and empowerment.
You will work to engage with clinical services, support care planning and lead group sessions, helping individuals recognise their strengths and possibilities
Wellways, in partnership with APMHA Healthcare and GV Health, is working together across Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, and Moira to strengthen mental health and wellbeing support across the region. Together, we're aiming to offer services that meet the unique needs of individuals in our community, whenever and wherever they are needed. Lived experience, inclusivity, and genuine collaboration are at the heart of everything we do. As an AOD Wellbeing Navigator Peer, you’ll draw on your own lived experience of substance use or addiction, recovery, service use and personal growth to build mutual and respectful relationships with participants. You’ll provide intentional AOD peer support and help people connect with the services, supports and community connections that matter to them. You’ll use your lived experience thoughtfully and purposefully to create opportunities for shared learning, hope and recovery, while supporting people to recognise their own strengths, choices and possibilities. This is a unique opportunity that exists with the goal of making sure everyone in our community is supported, included, and empowered.
You have personal lived experience with alcohol or substance use, and you’ve navigated your own recovery journey and/or engagement with AOD services. Through this experience, along with formal study or training, you’ve gained valuable insight that allows you to support others with empathy and understanding. You share your story in a safe, respectful, and empowering way; helping others to feel seen, heard, and understood. You instil hope and support people in building connections and reinforce the strengths they already bring to their own recovery journey.
If your lived experience is at the heart of how you connect with and support others in our community, we’d love to get to know you!
Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are free, voluntary, and easy to access, with no referral required. Importantly, these new services will be delivered on the basis of ‘how can we help?’ and a ‘no wrong door’ approach, focused on giving choice and control over how people in our community want to receive support. This service aims to make it easier for community members to access the support they need, closer to home and family, carers, and support networks. Most importantly, Mental Health and Wellbeing Locals are safe spaces for everyone.
For a confidential discussion about the role, please contact Hayley Clarke, Support and Connect Team Leader on 1300000559. We'd love to get to know you!
