Albury Wodonga Aboriginal Health Service in NSW is seeking a Full Time Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Support Worker to join the SEWB team in Albury. You will provide client-focused support to Aboriginal clients dealing with drug and alcohol issues, delivering holistic programs in line with primary health care principles.

The role emphasises outreach, education and health promotion, with salary packaging and employee assistance, in a welcoming team committed to equity and improving community

Qualifications

• Extensive work experience and/or a qualification relevant to the role.
• Experience either professionally, in the community, or with families in supporting Aboriginal people and their families who have alcohol and other drug issues.
• Offering client-focused support, including consultation, assessment, referral and follow-up.
• Team care planning for SEWB clients.
• Providing outreach support and working in partnership with clients to reach identified goals.
• Understanding of current health issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
• Planning and facilitating education and health promotion programs.

Responsabilités

• Provide direct support to Aboriginal clients with drug and alcohol dependence issues.
• Promote a client-focused holistic approach when engaging with clients affected by alcohol and other drug use issues.
• Assist with reducing the level of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug usage in the local Aboriginal community.
• Engage in planning and facilitation of SEWB education and health promotion activities.
