Job summary

Uniting Vic.Tas is seeking a Youth Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) Worker to provide compassionate, client-centred support to young people seeking voluntary withdrawal and respite from alcohol and other drug use.

You will help create a safe, welcoming and culturally inclusive environment, supporting wellbeing, recovery goals and connection with services and ongoing care.

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Nursing, Allied Health or related field.
• Certificate IV in AOD or willingness to complete within 12 months.
• Competencies in dual diagnosis or willingness to complete within 24 months.
• Knowledge of AOD sector and its relation to Forensic AOD System and Central Intake Services.
• Strong communication, engagement and interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide client-centred support to young people seeking withdrawal and/or respite from alcohol and other drugs.
• Create a safe, welcoming, culturally inclusive environment and support wellbeing and recovery goals.
• Engage with services and ongoing care pathways for clients and collaborators.

Your new role

As a Youth Alcohol & Other Drug (AOD) Worker, you will provide compassionate, client-centred support to young people seeking voluntary withdrawal and/or respite from alcohol and other drug use.

You’ll help create a safe, welcoming and culturally inclusive environment, supporting young people’s wellbeing, recovery goals and connection with appropriate services and ongoing care.

Shift Availability

This is a rotating roster, with most shifts scheduled during the day and afternoon, plus occasional overnight shifts:

• Day: 7:45am–3:45pm
• Afternoon: 3:15pm–11:15pm
• Night: 11:00pm–8:00am

Your Skills And Experience

You will bring with you:

• Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Nursing, Allied Health, or a related field
• Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD), completion of core competencies, or willingness to complete within 12 months of employment
• Competencies in dual diagnosis, or willingness to complete within 24 months of employment
• Knowledge of the Alcohol and Other Drug sector, including the relationship with the Forensic AOD System and Central Intake Services
• Strong communication, engagement, and interpersonal skills with young people and stakeholders
