As our AOD Peer Worker you will help residents in the AOD withdrawal program by sharing your lived experience of treatment and recovery from substance use. We recognise the strength, courage, and unique perspective of people with lived experience of alcohol and other drugs and believe peer support is a powerful part of the recovery journey.

  • Provide support and encouragement primarily to residents, and to people on the waitlist, the preadmission group, as well as clients in aftercare.
  • Provide basic support to clients according to established treatment plans.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment by promoting integrity and professionalism and presenting a professional image likely to build safety, confidence, and trust.
  • Provide support for offsite visits.
What we're looking for:
  • Lived alcohol and drug experience, with preference to participating in treatment at an accredited Therapeutic Community.
  • A minimum of 2 years successfully engaged in work, volunteering or study after graduating from an AOD residential program or other similar treatment service.
