About Our Client

Our client is a market-leading food import and distribution business with a turnover of $300-$400 million and is seeking a commercially driven Chief Commercial Officer to accelerate revenue growth, lead high-performing sales teams, and elevate brand presence through targeted, sales-focused marketing. This is a rare opportunity to step into a senior executive role within a dynamic, privately owned business expanding across mainstream retail, grocery, food service, and cash & carry channels.


Reporting directly to the CEO and owner, you will own the full commercial strategy across retail, food service, and wholesale, covering national chains like Coles and Woolworths, independent ethnic grocers, and a growing footprint of cash & carry outlets. Your mandate is to build sales momentum, drive margin growth, and lead a team that blends retail excellence with hands-on commercial execution.

Job Description


  • Commercial Sales Leadership - Own and execute the commercial strategy across all customer segments: grocery retail, ethnic independents, food service, and emerging cash & carry channels.

  • Key Account Management - Lead strategic partnerships with Coles, Woolworths, Costco and key independents, negotiating terms and driving profitable category growth.

  • Food Service & Wholesale Development - Expand customer reach across restaurants, catering, and food service operators, building scalable commercial programs.

  • Brand Sales Marketing - Drive consumer engagement and revenue via brand-focused campaigns, in-store activation, promotions, and targeted trade programs.

  • Category & Trade Execution - Lead pricing, product launches, and promotional plans aligned with consumer demand and supplier strategy.

  • Data-Led Growth Planning - Use sales data and market insights to identify trends, optimise performance, and uncover new revenue opportunities.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with finance, operations, and supply chain to align inventory, margin, and execution with commercial priorities.

  • Team Leadership - Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing commercial team across sales and brand marketing.


The Successful Applicant


  • Senior commercial leader with experience in food import, food distribution, or food service

  • Proven success in building sales teams, driving brand growth, and delivering commercial outcomes

  • Strong background managing retail accounts (Coles, Woolworths, independents) and/or food service customers

  • Experience working in a privately run business, understanding cultural opportunities and supporting supplier and customer relationships across APAC

  • Commercially sharp, data-driven, and hands-on in execution

  • Energetic and adaptable leadership style suited to a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
