Job summary

Westgate Labs Pty Ltd in Australia invites an Analytical Chemist to join our ISO/17025 and OECD GLP compliant laboratory. You will conduct on-site testing, perform sample preparation, and help ensure safe, efficient lab operation.

Responsibilities include Patulin testing in Apples and Pear juices weekly, instrument calibration, maintaining calibration records, and generating analytical reports and SOPs. Applicants should have a B.Sc in Chemistry or equivalent and be proficient with LC/MS, GC/MS

Qualifications

• Relevant tertiary qualifications, B.SC in chemistry (or other scientific streams) or extensive experience in a laboratory accredited to ISO 17025 and OECD GLP standard will be highly regarded.
• Proficient computer software literacy.
• Ability to create analytical reports SOP’s and methods.

Job description

Westgate Labs is a NATA accredited Australian Laboratory in the Horticulture, environmental, veterinary and food safety industries for analytical laboratory services in the areas of soil, water, pathology/microbiology, residue, veterinary and environmental testing along with Research and Development of chemicals.

Reporting to key personnel, you will provide on-site analytical testing and preparation within our Laboratory. You will ensure the safe and efficient running of our laboratory operation and perform a range of analytical tests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As an analytical chemist you will be required to:

• Perform sample preparation and testing procedures under the guidance of our Laboratory Manager.
• Patulin testing in Apples and Pear juices and purees weekly.
• Operate, calibrate, and conduct routine maintenance of analytical instruments with a high degree of precision.
• Maintain calibration records, analytical results, test reports, and maintenance records for NATA and OECD GLP compliance.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

As the successful candidates, you will have:
