Role: Allied Health Assistant
Status: 12-week Contract, Full-Time, potential for extension
Location: Mancel College @ Fig Tree Pocket, Brisbane
Role Commencing: 20 January 2027

At Mancel College, our Allied Health Assistants are more than support staff; they are valued members of a multi-disciplinary team that helps students build confidence, independence, and a sense of belonging.

Working alongside Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, educators, and other specialists, you'll play an important role in supporting students with Language Disorder and co-occurring diagnoses to achieve meaningful educational and wellbeing outcomes.

This 12-week contract opportunity, with the potential for extension, offers the chance to make an immediate impact in a dynamic school environment. Through your support of student programs, therapy activities, and classroom participation, you'll help students develop the skills they need to engage more confidently in learning and everyday life.

Our students are curious, capable, and ready to achieve more than anyone ever imagined—and you'll help empower them to realise this potential.

At Mancel College, we believe in the power of curiosity, the joy of discovery, and the boundless potential of every student. We're a values-based, active learning organisation dedicated to supporting children and young people with Language Disorder, many of whom have co-occurring disabilities.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
  • Support the delivery of allied health programs and interventions designed by Speech Pathologists and other allied health professionals.
  • Assist students to develop communication, social, learning, and independence skills across classroom and therapy settings.
  • Prepare resources, equipment, and learning materials to support student programs and interventions.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, allied health professionals, and support staff to promote student participation and engagement.
  • Observe, record, and provide feedback on student progress to assist with program planning and review.
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment where students can thrive.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING:
  • A Certificate III or Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance; or Current studies in Speech Pathology, Occupational Therapy, Psychology, Physiotherapy, or another relevant Allied Health discipline.
  • Experience supporting children and young people in educational, disability, community, or allied health settings will be highly regarded.
  • A genuine passion for supporting students with Language Disorder and co-occurring disabilities to participate, learn, and thrive.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
  • The ability to follow therapy programs and work collaboratively under the guidance of Allied Health Professionals.
  • A proactive, organised, and adaptable approach, with a willingness to learn and contribute as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to creating inclusive environments that support student wellbeing, engagement, and success.
WHAT YOU WON'T DO:
  • Manage your own clinical caseload or be responsible for complex assessments and therapy planning.
  • Work in isolation—you'll be supported by experienced allied health professionals and educators.
  • Be expected to know everything from day one—we'll provide guidance, mentoring, and support.
  • Spend your days completing administrative tasks with little student interaction.
  • Work in a one-size-fits-all environment—every student is unique, and every day brings new opportunities to make an impact.
BENEFITS:
  • What can we give you in return for your passion: An exceptionally satisfying experience as you connect those that need support with the right support.
  • Professional Development: Expand your skill set with opportunities for transdisciplinary development, external and internal growth opportunities.
