Job summary

Austal is seeking an AIC Officer to support Australian Industry Capability outcomes across Austal Defence Australia. You will monitor, analyse, and report on contract expenditure to ensure SSA compliance, track supplier performance, and contribute to initiatives that maximise local engagement.

Based in Fremantle, you will work with the AIC Manager and Supply Chain teams, maintaining AIC reporting tools like ACE, and assisting with procurement business cases and stakeholder communications.

Qualifications

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with data, reporting, or financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, SharePoint, Power BI).
  • Experience using ERP systems (IFS preferred).
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, or industry engagement.
  • Knowledge of Australian Industry Capability or sovereign capability initiatives.
  • Experience in defence, manufacturing, or engineering environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage AIC reporting tools, including ACE (Australian Contract Expenditure) tracking.
  • Analyse contract spend and validate supplier AIC claims.
  • Monitor ICE to ACE conversion and overall AIC performance.
  • Support identification of opportunities to increase Australian industry participation.
  • Maintain ICN Gateway work packages and supplier engagement activities.
  • Assist with procurement business cases and reporting requirements.
  • Provide guidance to suppliers on AIC obligations and compliance requirements.
  • Support reporting, audits, and stakeholder communication.
  • Assist with AIC‑related meetings, events, and documentation.

About The Opportunity

We are seeking a detail‑driven and analytical AIC Officer to support the delivery of Australian Industry Capability outcomes across Austal Defence Australia (ADA). In this role, you will work closely with the AIC Manager and Supply Chain teams to monitor, analyse, and report on contract expenditure, ensuring compliance with Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) requirements. You will play a key role in supporting the development of Australian industry by tracking supplier performance, analysing data, and contributing to initiatives that maximise local supplier engagement and capability development.
