Job summary

Macquarie University is seeking a Research Associate in Artificial Intelligence and UAV Navigation to develop software for UAVs and advance AI research in navigation, planning and computer vision. The role is based at Wallumattagal Campus, North Ryde, with a strong emphasis on translating cutting-edge AI research into practical UAV applications.

The successful candidate will combine software engineering with research experience in AI for UAVs and robotics, and contribute to an active AI group

Qualifications

• Degree in computer science, robotics, software engineering or closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated expertise in AI research relevant to UAVs, robotics and navigation, potentially including publications in top-tier conferences and journals.
• Experience implementing AI research on devices.
• Practical software engineering expertise; industry experience is desirable.
• Ability to plan and deliver research outcomes within project timeframes.

Responsibilities

• Develop software that can be deployed to UAVs.
• Carry out research relevant to AI for UAV navigation.
• Participate in regular project-related meetings.
