Job summary

CommonAI CIC in Cambridge is building a simulation framework to compare AI infrastructure designs against real measurements. You will develop and connect simulation components, ensuring interfaces are clear and results align with data.

The role requires strong software engineering skills across Python, C++, Rust, and experience with simulation or performance modelling. You will work with partners and measurement teams to validate predictions and extend the simulator.

Qualifications

• Experience in building and maintaining substantial technical software.
• Ability to understand unfamiliar code and reason about interfaces.
• Experience with simulation, systems software or performance modelling.
• Familiarity with AI coding agents and validation against measurements.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate simulation components capturing AI infrastructure behavior.
• Evaluate existing frameworks and connect components via clear interfaces.
• Model system state and resource use across components.
• Build reproducible simulation scenarios, tests and diagnostics.
• Collaborate with measurement teams to compare predictions with data.
• Maintain reliable software, docs and development workflows.
