Job summary

Qantas is seeking a Solution Architect to shape the enterprise GenAI platform and AI/ML workbench. You will define architecture across data, AI and integrations, ensuring governance, security and cost effectiveness.

You will lead reviews, mentor teams and drive scalable AI solutions across the group. You’ll work with business leaders and delivery teams to translate AI opportunities into well-governed, production‑ready solutions on modern data platforms such as Snowflake and AWS, while aligning

Qualifications

• At least 7 years in solution or enterprise architecture, with hands‑on AI/ML design and deployment in production on AWS.
• Deep experience with generative and agentic AI patterns (RAG, fine‑tuning, agent frameworks, evaluation, guardrails).
• Experience with MLOps and model lifecycle governance within broader program governance.
• Strong data management foundations: data quality, lineage, cataloguing and governance considerations for model accuracy and bias.
• Knowledge of privacy principles and government AI guidance and architecture controls.

Responsibilities

• Lead solution architecture for AI/ML initiatives from generative and agentic AI to predictive ML and guide through architecture review.
• Maintain AI capability model, architecture references, and governance patterns across platforms.
• Design enterprise GenAI platform and AI/ML workbench including model access, orchestration, and tool integration.
• Incorporate privacy by design, data residency and monitoring into architecture.
• Assess build vs buy, managed vs self-hosted AI patterns with cost, risk and value trade-offs.
• Collaborate with Security, Cyber and Risk on AI-specific threats and controller requirements.
• Mentor architects and engineers to grow AI architecture capability.
