Checkbox is building an AI-first SaaS platform and seeking a hands-on Principal Engineer to act as the senior technical authority across product engineering streams. You will shape the emerging AI architecture, govern critical decisions, and ensure coherence as we scale, delivering working code and measurable improvements.

The role focuses on technical leadership, architecture governance, security, and cross-functional collaboration without people management responsibilities.

Qualifications

• Significant experience as a Principal Engineer or Architect in a SaaS environment.
• Deep systems expertise across product engineering and cloud-native software.
• Proven ability to govern high-impact architecture decisions across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own key architecture decisions across Checkbox's product engineering streams.
• Define and govern the future-state product architecture.
• Ensure architecture coherence across product streams, Platform, Data Eng, QA and other teams.
• Contribute directly to production releases with working code.
• Embed fitness functions, architecture measures and feedback loops.
