Job description

AI is rapidly changing how organisations work, and strong governance is critical to ensuring it is adopted responsibly and effectively. We are looking for an AI Governance Specialist to help strengthen HCF’s approach to AI governance, risk and controls. Working across business, technology, data and application teams, you’ll help embed practical governance throughout the AI lifecycle, assess emerging AI risks and support the continued maturity of HCF’s Data and AI Governance capability.

What you will be doing?
  • Support the implementation and ongoing enhancement of HCF’s AI Governance framework, policies, standards and guardrails.
  • Conduct AI risk and control assessments, identify gaps and recommend practical risk treatments.
  • Partner with technology, data, application development and business teams to embed governance throughout the AI delivery lifecycle.
  • Provide practical guidance on AI and data risks, controls, governance and compliance requirements.
  • Maintain the AI Asset Register and support ongoing monitoring of AI risks, controls and compliance.
  • Help establish technical guardrails for AI systems and agents, including access controls, approval workflows, security assessments and monitoring.
  • Translate technical requirements into clear governance documentation, control mappings and assurance evidence.
  • Develop AI governance guidance, training and awareness initiatives to build capability across the organisation.
  • Support AI and data quality monitoring, governance reporting and broader governance uplift initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate governance processes using emerging technologies and Generative AI.
About you

You will bring a combination of governance, risk and technology knowledge, together with the ability to work collaboratively across technical and business teams.

Ideally, you’ll have:
  • 3+ years’ experience in AI, data governance, IT risk and compliance, information security or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of governance, risk management and information security controls.
  • Experience conducting risk and control assessments and translating findings into practical recommendations.
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles, including fairness, accountability, transparency and bias.
  • Experience collaborating with technical and business stakeholders in complex environments.
  • Ability to review solution designs and understand AI, data lineage, data quality and associated control impacts.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to communicate complex AI, technology and governance concepts clearly to different audiences.
  • Experience using Generative AI tools to improve workflows, automation and efficiency.
  • Familiarity with frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001/27002, NIST AI RMF, ISO 42001.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CRISC, CISA, or CISM will be highly regarded but are not essential.

This role gives you the opportunity to work in a rapidly evolving area and contribute to how AI governance is shaped and embedded across HCF. You’ll work across diverse business and technology teams, influence the way AI risks and controls are managed, and contribute to building a responsible and sustainable approach to AI adoption.

If you are passionate about responsible AI, governance and emerging technology and enjoy turning complex risk requirements into practical solutions, we would love to hear from you.
