Virgin Australia is creating an AI-powered data science capability. We’re seeking a Data Scientist (AI) to work at the intersection of data science, commercial decision-making and aviation problems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience developing and deploying ML models in a commercial/operational setting.
• Strong Python skills across supervised learning, forecasting and optimisation.
• Experience with generative AI, NLP or LLM-based applications is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deploy machine learning and predictive models to solve complex commercial and operational problems.
• Apply forecasting, optimisation and decision science to pricing, demand, inventory and revenue management.
• Translate model outputs into clear, actionable recommendations for business decisions.
• Build robust, explainable, reproducible data science solutions with validation and monitoring.
• Explore emerging AI capabilities, including generative AI/LLMs, to improve decision-making and productivity.
• Partner with stakeholders to understand needs, measure impact and ensure adoption.
