Job summary

IREN Group is seeking a Network Security Architect in Sydney, NSW to design and oversee security across data centre fabrics, WAN, and AI workloads. You will establish segmentation, zero-trust patterns and security standards for firewalls, remote access, and routing, while leading security automation initiatives.

You will collaborate with engineers and executives to communicate risks, review designs, and ensure compliance with industry frameworks.

Qualifications

• Experience designing security for large data centre, cloud, carrier or hyperscale networks.
• Expert knowledge of firewalls, segmentation, zero-trust and secure remote access.
• Strong understanding of VXLAN, EVPN and SDN and segmentation of them.
• Broad knowledge of Cisco/Juniper/Arista with security capabilities.
• Deep understanding of BGP/OSPF/IS-IS/MPLS routing security and DDoS protection.
• Experience securing multi-tenant HPC/AI environments and related tooling.
• Familiarity with NIST ISO 27001 SOC 2 IEC 62443 frameworks.
• Hands-on Python/Go for policy-as-code and security automation.

Responsibilities

• Own the network security architecture across data centre fabrics, WAN and backbone.
• Define segmentation and zero-trust patterns including tenant isolation for AI cloud customers.
• Set security standards for firewalls, remote access, device hardening and routing security.
• Design edge protection, including DDoS mitigation and route filtering with carriers and peers.
• Define security-as-code and CI/CD tests enforcing security across the network.
• Build prototypes and reference code for security automation and AI tooling security.
• Lead security technology selection and vendor evaluation for firewalls and DDoS services.
• Model threats and translate results into practical controls.
