Job summary

Dematic is seeking a Graduate or Junior AGV Engineer to join our Mobile Automation team in Adelaide. You will gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of AGV systems, including testing, integration, commissioning and troubleshooting, with travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Engineering degree in Electrical or Mechatronics / Robotics / Industrial Automation.
• Experience with electrical design and installation is expected.
• Knowledge of AGV PLCs programming/commissioning is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support by investigating and resolving Mobile Automation issues.
• Manage incidents and tasks to meet deadlines and budgets.
• Train operators and client personnel and maintain strong customer relationships.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and reports.
• Commission AGVs on-site and assist with hardware costing and scheduling.
• Support system upgrades and configurations for AGVs and PLCs.
• Ensure safety standards and contribute to ongoing team improvements.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a Graduate or Junior AGV Engineer to join Dematic’s Mobile Automation team, working with our Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) technology.

You’ll gain hands‑on experience across the full lifecycle of AGV systems, including testing, integration, commissioning, troubleshooting and customer support. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and have opportunities to visit customer sites and see our technology operating in real‑world environments to meet customer needs.

The role is based in Adelaide, with hybrid working available following initial training. Some travel to customer sites will also be required.

Tasks and Qualifications:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide technical support to our customers by investigating, resolving, and escalating Mobile Automation system issues while keeping customers informed
• Manage incidents and project tasks to meet deadlines, budgets, and quality standards while following internal procedures
• Communicate and build strong relationships with customers, including training operators and client personnel
• Maintain accurate documentation, including technical records and reports
• Commissioning of AGVs on‑site
• Assisting senior engineers with costing, scheduling and ordering hardware/equipment
• System upgrades and configuration of computer hardware
• Testing and integration of AGV and PLC systems
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, continuously improve skills, and support on‑call and the overall team

ABOUT YOU – WHAT YOU WILL BRING

• Engineering degree - Electrical or Mechatronics / Robotics / Industrial Automation
• Experience in electrical design and installation
• Knowledge of configuration, programming and commissioning of AGV PLC’s (desirable)
• Technical Writing (desirable)
• Knowledge of PC and basic programming
• Ability to be flexible and resourceful in the face of challenging situations
• Strong communication, analytical thinking and problem‑solving skills
• Ability to work within a team environment
• Hunger with the ability to learn
