Job summary

Heidelberg Materials Australia is hiring Agi truck drivers at four Adelaide plants (Lonsdale, Port Adelaide, Magill, Smithfield). Both permanent and casual positions are available with a base rate of $30.75 per hour for permanent staff and an additional 25% for casual workers.

Shifts typically run from 4am to 6:30am, with overtime as needed and weekend work often available. New starters complete a 10‑day training program before driving solo.

Qualifications

• HR license (required) with driving experience preferred.
• Onsite interaction with customers and colleagues.
• Variety in daily routes and driving different days.
• Truck appearance and presentation are important.
• Must have full Australian work rights.

Responsibilities

• Operate Agi trucks with early start times (4am–6:30am).
• Interact with customers and other drivers, acting as a mobile ambassador.
• Maintain truck cleanliness and professional appearance.
• Complete a 10‑day training program before solo driving.
• Pass pre‑employment medical and random drug/alcohol testing.

About The Role

• Roles are available at all 4 of our Adelaide plants: Lonsdale, Port Adelaide, Magill and Smithfield
• Both permanent and casual positions are available
• Rate is $30.75 for perm and add 25% for casual
• If you have a HC license we may be able to get you into one of our semi‑agitator trucks
• Most days will start between 4am and 6:30am and drivers can do up to and over 10 hours per day, and around 50 – 55 hours per week. Saturday work is generally available, paid at overtime rates
• We pay a base rate and once you go past your regular hours in one day the first two after that will be at time and a half. If you do more than 2 hours overtime in a day, you go to double time. Meal allowances are generally paid after 10 hours in one shift
• As we mentioned, driving an Agi is like being a Customer Service Agent on wheels. You will be dealing with lots of different personalities every day, so you need to be comfortable interacting with people you haven’t met before
• We provide cutting edge technology to not only keep you safe whilst driving, but also to help you map your routes and keep track of your loads
• All new starts go through a 10-day training program before we let you loose by yourself

About You

• Minimum of HR license (essential) with previous driving experience (preferred)
• You enjoy meeting people and having a chat with them when you’re onsite
• You prefer variety in your working life. No two days are ever the same when you’re driving one of our Agi trucks
• You take pride in the appearance of your truck. Keep it clean, give it a wash and present the best image of our company. You are a mobile billboard and people notice a dirty truck
• Able to pass a pre‑employment medical, including a drug and alcohol test (random testing is also conducted on all Heidelberg Materials Australia sites)
• Some of our trucks have driver weight limits on their seats and seatbelts. For safety reasons, you may be required to be under a specified weight for these trucks
• You must have full Australian work rights to be considered for these roles
