Job summary

Calvary is seeking a Support Worker – Cleaning to help maintain a safe, clean living environment for residents and a supportive work area for staff. The role covers routine cleaning tasks, use of cleaning equipment, and adherence to infection control and chemical safety standards.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal communication, both written and verbal.
• Ability to prioritise workloads and manage competing tasks.
• Commitment to continuous quality improvement and WH&S practices.
• Working knowledge of WH&S and Infection Control standards.
• Experience with cleaning tasks (mopping, vacuuming, dusting).
• Knowledge of safe chemical handling and storage.

Responsibilities

• Ensure environmental service standards are met and the residents’ living environment is safe and clean.
• Carry out cleaning tasks including floors, rooms, bathrooms, offices, and common areas.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as carpet cleaners and floor scrubbers.
• Follow infection control, chemical safety and storage procedures per SDS and schedules.
• Maintain stock of cleaning supplies and coordinate deliveries as required.
• Complete shift documentation and sign-off task records.
• Assist Home Manager with audits and compliance checks as requested.
• Report maintenance or supply issues promptly and accurately.
• Provide social and emotional support to residents as part of holistic care.
