Job summary

ActronAir in Sydney is seeking an experienced Production Manager (Afternoon Shift) to lead our Sheet Metal and Assembly Plant and our Controls Manufacturing Plant. You will manage a fast-paced production team, ensuring safety, quality and timely output.

The role requires strong leadership, manufacturing process knowledge, and the ability to coach and develop staff. You will coordinate with planning and operations, drive efficiency, reduce waste, and uphold our standards of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a leadership role within manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of Assembly and Sheet Metal processes.
• Formal mechanical qualifications.
• HVAC knowledge is advantageous.
• Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with ERP systems (MS Dynamics 365) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a full understanding and working knowledge of WHS and Quality Systems, ensuring adherence by factory personnel.
• Actively pursue production issues including equipment status, quality, and staffing levels.
• Coordinate shift production program with daily and weekly plans to ensure efficiency.
• Work closely with Production Planning to meet build requirements.
• Identify new methods to increase production efficiency or reduce waste.
• Ensure resources (labour, machinery, materials) are effectively utilized and monitored.
• Meet production efficiency targets while maintaining quality standards.
• Provide coaching and skill development for direct reports.
• Communicate relevant information to your team to enable effective performance.
• Conduct daily shift handovers with the Production Manager – Day Shift and Operations Manager – Controls.
• Delegate tasks effectively, identify training requirements and skill gaps.
• Develop and implement training initiatives for your team.
