Job summary

Northern Sydney Local Health District – Ryde NSW is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide clinical leadership and advanced mental health nursing care at Macquarie Hospital, including after-hours support. You will work with the After Hours Nurse Manager to deliver quality nursing services, exercise autonomous decision making, and lead nursing practice across the campus.

Eligibility includes AHPRA Division 1 registration, post-registration qualifications in Mental Health, and at least 3 years’

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse – Division 1 with AHPRA required.
• Post-registration qualifications in Mental Health required.
• At least 3 years’ experience in a clinical area related to Mental Health is required.
• Immunisation and NSW Health OASV policy compliance required.

What you'll be doing

The purpose of the role is to work in association with the After Hours Nurse Manager (AHNM) to provide clinical leadership, education and advanced clinical skills to nurses and consumers within Macquarie Hospital and ensuring a comprehensive quality nursing service.

The position liaises closely with AHNMs to facilitate effective and efficient provision of service delivery after hours across the whole campus by:

• actively contributing to the development of clinical practice in Macquarie Hospital
• exercising extended autonomy of decision making
• exercising professional knowledge and judgment in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills
• Leadership in the development of nursing specialty clinical practice and service delivery across Macquarie Hospital Nursing Services

This position also works under the direction of the AHNM and reports to the Deputy Director of Nursing, and works autonomously to help support all nursing staff through constant communication to ensure the most appropriate response to situations involving both staff and consumers. This is achieved by working together in an environment which supports person centredness through evidence based care, learning and enquiry. All nurses must comply and act in accordance with recognised professional and organisational standards established by NSW Health, The Nursing and Midwifery Board Of Australia, and NSLHD.

The Australian College of Mental Health Nurses Inc. (ACMHS) believes that mental health nursing is a unique interpersonal process, which promotes and maintains behaviours that contribute to integrate functioning for individuals and communities. The CNS2 overseas these processes that are intrinsically linked to the Mental Health Nursing domain.

• Registered Nurse – Division 1 with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• Holds relevant post registration qualifications in Mental Health and at least 3 years’ experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualifications or such other qualifications or relevant equivalent experience.

Demonstrated ability to exercise extended autonomy of decision making while working as part of a multidisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
