Job summary

The Royal Flying Doctor Service South Australia / Northern Territory (RFDS SA/NT) seeks an experienced Flight Nurse to deliver high-quality emergency retrieval and inter-facility transport services across remote NT and SA. You will join a multidisciplinary aeromedical team providing advanced clinical care in challenging environments.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years experience in emergency, intensive care or critical care nursing.
• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse.
• Post-graduate qualification in emergency/critical care nursing, with a minimum of three years clinical experience after the qualification.
• Demonstrated understanding of NSQHS standards and how they apply in the Aeromedical setting.
• Advanced life support and paediatric life support certification with an accredited training organisation.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently in high-pressure environments while contributing positively to a multidisciplinary team.
• The ability to think critically and apply sound clinical judgement in high-pressure environments, while delivering culturally safe and responsive care to diverse patient populations.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality emergency retrieval and inter-facility transport nursing services across South Australia and the Northern Territory.
• Provide advanced clinical assessment, stabilisation and ongoing management of patients in aeromedical and remote healthcare environments.
• Work collaboratively with Doctors, Pilots and Transport Officers to ensure safe and effective patient transfers.
• Apply specialist emergency or critical care expertise to support evidence-based practice and positive patient outcomes.
• Contribute to a culture of safety, professionalism and clinical excellence while providing care in dynamic and challenging operational settings.
